Building a Brand for the Galaxy's Smartest Interactive Learning Companion

A child’s mind is always curious, so learning should be interactive and engaging. However, most educational toys used for supplemental learning are simple question and answer toys that eventually bore children or  teach factual knowledge without teaching emotional intelligence. Scout is more than a question and answer toy. It's a friend created to learn, grow, and play with your child. Scout will not only answer questions, but will tell jokes, share stories, and remember a child’s name and specific interests for future interactions. This, unique, personalized experience makes learning fun and exploratory, motivating kids to open up, remain curious and continue to be excited about learning.

As a key player in the development of the original CogniToys product I was brought in to aid in some of the creative development for the Scout product. The goal was to leverage the pre-existing platform behind the toys and combine it with a wishlist of new product features. Character development was executed collaboratively with a partner studio whose expertise focused on prototyping new tech.

As Scout and its user interacts more and more, Scout is able to take those interactions, learn and get better at being awesome. Better at knowing the user, creating and curating new content and ways to improve the interaction. Scout and kids always learning together.

Scout was built to inspire kids to learn, explore and become excited about all the things that make the world such a wonderful place. Scout is a source of constant positivity and fun and a friend who reinforces things like manners, health & nutrition and emotional well-being.

The desired direction for the brand was fun and playful but  more mature and tech forward than the other CogniToys product lines. I lead the team in defining the brand idenity through the creation of multiple assets including logo exploration, iconography and brand guidelines.

We developed a multitude of additional brand assets to create a strong scalable core for the product. This included was but not limited to marketing pages, an e-commerce experience and photography.
